TCSL-23型氙弧灯耐气候试验箱是以氙灯为光源，模拟和强化耐候性加速光老化的试验设备，以快速获得近大气老化的试验结果，用来评价材料的耐候性。耐候试验是科研生产过程中筛选配方优化产品组成的重要手段，也是产品质量检验的一项重要内容应用材料如涂料、塑料等产品标准均要求做耐候性试验。
造成材料老化的主要因素是阳光和潮湿。耐候试验箱可以模拟由阳光、雨水和露水造成的危害。耐候试验箱利用氙灯模拟阳光照射的效果，利用冷凝湿气模拟雨水和露水，被测材料放置在一定温度下的光照和潮气交替的循环程序中进行测试，用数天或数周的时间即可重现户外数月乃至数年出现的危害。人工加速老化试验数据可以帮助选择新材料，改造现有材料，以及评价配方的变化是如何影响产品的耐久性的。
